The speech tier(s) follow(s) standard conventions (Gibbon et al., 2000,1997). If there is only one tier for speech events, it contains
word intervals and intervals marking intervening pauses. Transcription
can be either orthographic or phonemic. Possible further tiers for
other acoustic submodalities comprise syllable and other boundaries,
intonation, prominence and phrases.
