6 Annotation

Annotation with the CoGesT system requires software which offers both a video playback option and text fields in which the beginning and end points of each position or gesture can be aligned to the appropriate time stamps in the video. This process of annotation is usually carried out on multiple time-aligned tiers. The number of tiers is variable and depends on the research requirement. The minimal number of tiers for the CoGesT system is two: for the speech forms and functions and for gesture forms and functions. Initially we are concerned only with the two form tiers.
