Further developments

The present stage of development may be regarded as stable for fully inflected form lexical word lists of German.

The VERBMOBIL word lists of this form are generated automatically from a stem lexicon and a paradigm-based definition of German morphology. The following stages of development will be stem-based, with application-specific outputs.

In addition, the VERBMOBIL lexicon database, which includes the lexical word list as a submatrix, will be further extended to include items from additional corpus material (extensional coverage) and additional information sources (intensional coverage). The additional information types are internally structured; the basic type of additional structure is the disjunction, as with pronunciation variants, but vector structures (with the underline as separator) and an additional level of atomic disjunction (with two semicolons) was also introduced.

The ASCII standard will, in future versions, be used as a lexicographic collation standard for the integration of database material from different sources, and will feed into a large Oracle database via an object-oriented interface.

It is intended to apply the approach defined in this technical document to other languages involved in the VERBMOBIL project.
