The following tools have been developed by Frederek Althoff and Julie Berndsen at the Applied Phonetics Section of the University of Bielefeld. They are designed to allow you to learn interactively about simplex and complex waveforms based on the representation of a simple sinusoid (sine wave).
This tool plots a sinusoidal wave given the amplitude and the frequency. Just enter the amplitude and frequency and press "Display" to see the plot with your own settings. The range is currently fixed (i.e. 0-1).
This tool plots two sinusoids together with the complex waveform generated by adding them. The amplitude and frequency of the two sinusoids must be entered.
This tool allows you to see the effects of sampling a sinusoid. Depending on the sampling rate chosen, the newly generated waveform is represented on the graph together with the sinusoid. The samping theorem requires that at least twice the highest frequency is taken as the sampling rate. This tool allows you to experiment with different sampling rates.
