Standardisation procedure

The following standards are relevant to the stabilisation and standardisation of terminological standards for spoken language system development (see [Schmitz et al.(1994)Schmitz, Budin Galinski], p. 43):

ISO 690: Documentation. Bibliographic references - Content, form and structure.
ISO 704: Principles and methods of terminology (1987)
ISO 860: International harmonization of concepts and terms (DIS 1993)
ISO 1087-1: Terminology work - Vocabulary, Part 1 (1990)
ISO 1087-2: Terminology work - Vocabulary, Part 2: Computational aids in terminology (DIS 1994)
ISO 6156: Magnetic tape exchange format for terminological/lexicographical records (MATER) (1987)
ISO 10241: International terminology standards - Preparation and layout (1992)
ISO 12200: Computational aids in terminology - Terminology Interchange Format (TIF) - an SGML application (DIS 1993)
ISO 12616: Translation-oriented terminography (CD 1994)
ISO 12618: Technical Report: Computational aids in terminology - creation and use of terminological databases and text corpora (DTR 1993)
ISO 12620: Computational aids in terminology - data element dictionary (CD 1994)

In general, corporate terminologies of institutions, in particular research labs in industry and academia, will need to be taken into account; the questions involved here are not purely form and meaning oriented: terminologies are part of a corporate identity and involve a particular view of the concrete world of work.

In a multilingual context, national norms will, of course, also require consideration.
