A macro-model for spoken language terminology

The traditional decision on whether to take the line of onomasiological structure or semasiological structure was a fundamental one which determined rather inflexibly the overall structure of a terminology.

The EAGLET hyperlexicon concept, however, makes a decision on the one or the other perspective obsolete. The analogy with relational databases is helpful: a relational database may be indexed on any element in the relation, enabling efficient search and access to the database from any attribute. A hyperlexicon on the one hand allows all indexings, but on the other, it allows them to obtain simultaneously, and to be used in any combination or sequence.
