28. Jahrestagung der GAL

Die 28. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Angewandte Linguistik (GAL) e.V. findet vom 25.-27. September 1997 an der Universität Bielefeld statt. Die Tagung steht unter dem Rahmenthema "Medium Sprache". Das Thema wird in sechs Themenbereichen bearbeitet:

1. Medium Sprache: Eine Aufgabe für die Linguistik
2. Medium Sprache in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft
3. Sprache: Das Multimedium
4. Sprachen durch Sprache: Medium Sprache im Fremdsprachenunterricht
5. Störungen des Mediums Sprache

Weiterhin werden zu folgenden Themen Sektionen angeboten.

1. Phonetik
2. Lexik und Grammatik
3. Textlinguistik und Stilistik
4. Sprecherziehung/Rhetorische Kommunikation
5. Medienkommunikation
6. Fachsprachliche Kommunikation
7. Soziolinguistik
8. Kontaktlinguistik
9. Kontrastive Linguistik und Interkulturelle Kommunikation
10. Übersetzungswissenschaft
11. Psycholinguistik
12. Klinische Linguistik
13. Sprachdidaktik
14. Unterrichtstechnologie
15. Computerlinguistik

Daneben werden noch Arbeitskreise, Hauptvorträge und Fachausstellungen durchgeführt. Vortragsanmeldungen werden bis spätestens 15. April 1997 an die Geschäftsstelle erbeten.

10th ICEHL

The Tenth International Conference on English Historical Linguistics will take place in Manchester, England, 21-26 August 1998.

CALL FOR PAPERS.

Offers of papers are invited, with a deadline of 31 October 1997. Papers will last 20 minutes, with a 10-minute discussion period to follow. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words and may be submitted in hard copy and/or electronically. Please check that your submission is acknowledged.

PLENARY SESSIONS.

Donka Minkova (the '10th Conference' speaker), Cynthia Allen, Elan Dresher, Paul Kiparsky, Roger Lass, David Lightfoot, Terttu Nevalainen, Nikolaus Ritt, Elizabeth Traugott and Wim van der Wurff have provisionally agreed to give plenary lectures.

WORKSHOPS.

Probable topics for special sessions attached to the conference include a teach-in on Statistics in English Historical Linguistics; Lexicography (in association with OED3); and a workshop or teach-in on Optimality Theory in Historical Linguistics. Linguistisches Kolloquium

Das 32. Linguistische Kolloquium, das in diesem Jahr im Fachbereich 09 der Universität Kassel ausgerichtet wird, findet von Mittwoch, 17. September bis Freitag, 19. September, statt.
