- Integration of theoretical, descriptive and computational issues with practically oriented research, development and application goals in mind (primarily in teaching and speech technology).

- Use of computational realisations of theories to model observational corpus data in a linguistically general manner, with quantitative and qualitative evaluation in mind.

- Use of contemporary linguistic models, both at the general level (sign-based models) and at local levels (e.g. autosegemental morphophonology), for maximum descriptive and explanatory value, and integration of models from different lingusitic subdomains (e.g. event semantics in both phonetic and semantic interpretation).
