There are many kinds of adjectives, and terminology is not always consistent.
Using information available in grammars, on the web, etc., do the following:
- Define predicative adjective, attributive adjective, with examples.
- Outline the morphological properties of adjectives in English (e.g. comparison), with examples of different sentence contexts in which they occur.
- Check this useful page on German adjectives by Karin Naumann, Tübingen, and translate the examples into English.
- Make informal semantic profiles and Kilgarriff-style word sketches of the meanings of a represententative selection of the examples of adjectives discussed in the previous three points.
Hint: Check Google for the keywords "adjective classification".
