Previous: Practical intonation description: ToBI
- The goal of the term paper is
- to create a multimedia document (i.e. including text, graphics, sound)
- with a topic from the area of intonation, prosody
- with a conventional scientific introduction to the topic, and
- illustration of the concepts with multimedia elements.
- The term paper can be produced in any of a number of ways, but the recommended procedure is the following:
- Design the structure of the term paper (and describe this structure in the term paper itself).
- Prepare materials using CoolEdit and Praat.
- Analyse materials and design the document structure (with document objects such as tables, graphics, sound files).
- Create an outline in MS Word.
- Test this with RTFTOHTML.
- Check the techniques for transferring graphics and sound files to your WORD document.
- Study the RTFTOHTML manual for information on how to code special hypertext features in WORD.
- Create your WORD document.
- Convert to HTML with RTFTOHTML.
- If necessary, modifiy the HTML output, e.g. by hand, to create the results you want.
- But remember: only do this at the final stage, as `postprocessing', because if you then change your original document and re-convert it to HTML, you will have to re-do all your modifications as well.
- For practical and general hints on how to write a term paper, see the `Checklist' on my Teaching web page.
