Semantics: indexicality

Practical semantics of indexicality:

• One function of a bibliographical entry is to help the reader identify tokens of a given type (so he can buy, borrow, beg or steal one)
• Main criteria: unique names (author, publisher, city, date)
• On the Web?
  • (manual or automatic) date stamp?
  • production time, URL of origin, author?
  • access time, ostensible production time, URL of origin, author?
  • token mirror?
  • Problem: updating -- not just ego-hic-nunc but !
• Much previous work on computer indexicality: Wahlster, Schmauks, Mellish ...
