Practical semantics of indexicality:
- One function of a bibliographical entry is to help the reader
identify tokens of a given type (so he can buy, borrow, beg
or steal one)
- Main criteria: unique names (author, publisher, city, date)
- On the Web?
- (manual or automatic) date stamp?
- production time, URL of origin, author?
- access time, ostensible production time, URL of origin, author?
- token mirror?
- Problem:
updating -- not just ego-hic-nunc but
!
- Much previous work on computer indexicality: Wahlster, Schmauks, Mellish ...
