Diphone database construction

Starting with the raw diphone inventory, an optimised database of diphones, the diphone database, is constructed, involving the following steps:

1. Optimisation of the diphoneme and time stamps into a pointer system designed for efficient access to the diphones.
2. Pitch analysis of the diphones, and assignment of a normalised pitch.
3. Dynamic equalisation of the diphones.
4. Application of smoothing procedures.
