Pre-recording phase: Construction of elicitation materials

A number of tasks have to be performed in order to produce elicitation materials for the diphone database:

1. Construct a list of English phonemes with the important allophones, using SAMPA notation (check this out on the web),
2. Construct a list of pairs of all phonemes as a preliminary to constructing the diphone database -- divide this up among yourselves, e.g. each person takes 4 phonemes (depending on how many are present), and makes a diphone list for each phoneme,
3. Alternative strategies:
   1. Construct a list of short phrases containing the diphones (chosen here).
   2. Read aloud about an hour of written material.
