American English Diphone Text Corpus

Michael J. Gourlay

Abstract:

The following list contains every phoneme pair (diphone) present in the English language. The list is intended to be read aloud clearly in an uniform loudness and monotone pitch. When the target diphone has its component phonemes at word boundaries, the words should be spoken as though they were a single word.

The phonetic alphabet being used in this list is the SAMPA alphabet, with the modification that the symbol ``{'' is replaced everywhere by the symbol ``a''.
