Quality considerations for concatenative TTS synthesis

Care has to be taken with concatenative synthesis in order to produce good output:

• An appropriate prosodic structure (intonation, accent and pause) must be d efined.
  Question: What prosodic factors are involved?
• The segments of canned speech must have the same vocal qualities.
  Question: How can this be achieved?
• Clicks between the concatenation items of canned speech must be avoided.
  Question: How is this done?
