Practical models

The most straightforward static practical models are diagrammes and tables, which have two basic kinds of function:

  1. to illustrate symbolic representations of objects and relations between objects,
  2. to provide a physical illustration of numerical relationships between measurements of events in which objects are involved.

Mechanical devices, as well as computer graphics, are practical working models.

For discussion:

Which properties of theories and models are represented by the simple animated computer graphics used in this course?
