Goals: Participants will be introduced to the theory and practice of the analysis of speech sounds with modern methods. The course is particularly relevant to students of English Studies, and students of other area such as General Linguistics or Clinical Linguistics with an interest in speech sounds and/or speech audio applications in multimedia documents.
Topics: The following topics will be treated:
Participation: All participants are expected to take part actively, with an oral report (slides, handouts), performing experiments and description of results in a web oriented format.
``Scheine'': Qualifications can be obtained as written single author or group authorship term papers.
Course materials: a CD ROM with PC software will be available at cost at the beginning of the semester. The following textbook is recommended::
