Presentation interpretation: space-time mapping

Presentation interpretation is a model-theoretic interpretation function from a hierarchically structured expression into the phonetic domain(s).

The interpretation function

• is composed of (at least) two sub-functions:
  1. RELATIVE TIME-SPACE MAP:

     e.g. from ID-structures in morphology and syntax into autosegmental/prosodic lattices

     (``rubber time'')

     i.e. phonology, morphophonology, prosodic hierarchy

  2. ABSOLUTE TIME-SPACE MAP:

     e.g. from autosegmental/prosodic structures into absolute spatio-temporal coordinates

     (``clock time'')

     i.e. phonetics

• can be formalised with extensions of the event logics used in logical semantics.
