Text presentation and printer's make-up

When a manuscript goes to the printer, it is made-up or type-set or composed for printing on paper, i.e.

• font families, font sizes and highlights are assigned,
• the text stream is split into lines,
• the line stream is split into pages,
• chapters, sections, subsections are split,
• tables and figures are included,
• table of contents, list of tables, list of figures, glossary, index and other search aids are added,
• front matter and back matter is added,
