Previous: Mapping into Presentation Structure
At Document Structure level, characters are defined as abstract objects.
They have identity, but no physical presentation properties.
Many Presentation Structure properties can in fact be controlled in HTML
and overlay document block structure:
- Font: serif/sansserif; Roman, Helvetia, ...
A basic font range including Serif, Sansserif, and typewriter fonts are provided by most browsers; special fonts are not widely supported (but UNICODE is coming...).
- Size (stepped, scaled):
large, normal size, , ...
<FONT SIZE=4> ... </FONT>
- Spacing (fixed typewriter, proportional)
<TT>...</TT>
- Highlight
- colour:
<FONT COLOR=LIGHTBLUE>...</FONT>
- Italic:
<IT>...</IT>
- Slant
- Bold:
<B>...</B>
- Underline:
<U>...</U>
- SMALL CAPITALS
