Prepare answers to the following tasks for the next meeting:
- List and discuss the main differences between these transcriptions of spoken language and a standard written text.
- Assign syntactic categories to the words in the lexicon.
- Lemmatise the lexicon by hand (i.e. remove inflections). How many additional entries are there, if any?
- Assign syntactic categories to the words in the lexicon.
- Define the meaning of the words in the lexicon.
- Some kinds of word are particularly characteristic of spoken, as opposed to written language. Which are these?
- What function does each utterance have in the dialogue (e.g. question, instruction, comment, ...)?
- How would you classify these functions in terms of Bühler's functional model (i.e. expressive, descriptive, appellative)?
