The post-recording stage of acquiring spoken language corpora is in principle open-ended: given a well-defined corpus, it can provide the empirical foundation for an unlimited number of research and development applications.

The definition of constraints to limit this variety for practical purposes in scientific research and technological development (R&D) is therefore crucial.
