The conversion of phase and frequency spectra back to the time domain is known as Fourier synthesis, and is modelled by the Inverse Fourier Transformation (IFT). The Inverse Fourier Transformation maps the phase and frequency spectrums into the time domain. In effect, the addition of signals in the Fourier series is a statement of the Inverse Fourier Transformation.
