Using the WAV file provided, do the following:
- Open your Home folder, and make a subfolder named "Audio".
- Copy the file from the Kurstransfer folder to your Audio folder.
- Start the Praat software, and Open ("Read") the file - you will now have a Sound object in the Praat object list.
- Search for the first Welsh dialogue "Dialogue 1".
- Select the dialogue and extract the selection - you will now have another Sound object in the Praat object list.
- Save this sound object under the name "<yourdesknumber>_Dialogue1"
- Create a TextGrid, removing the silly default tier names and entering the tier name "Orthography" (under "Label...") - you will now have a TextGrid object in the Praat object list.
- Select the second Sound object and the Textgrid, and click on Edit.
- Place a boundary after each utterance by clicking between utterances, click on the little circle above the Orthography tier to create a boundary.
- Click on a segment and transcribe the segment orthographically.
- Do this for all utterances.
- Then create a new tier "Grammar", and the same for the parts of speech (POS) which have already been introduced, labelling them with their POS names.
- For nouns and verbs, add their inflexional information.
- Create a further tier, and annotate positions where mutation occurs with the mutation type and the mutation trigger.
