Reports

All participants are expected to participate actively in discussion, project work, and in holding oral reports. These reports are motivated by the teaching/learning concept. They have nothing to do with graded course qualifications but are intended to support the group dynamics of active participation in class discussion and provide feedback from all participants. Course participation will be certified on this basis (Teilnahmeschein).

For a report qualification, additionally a short written version of the report must be prepared.

On my main teaching web page you will find a link to hints about how to prepare and give reports. Just a couple of reminders here:

  1. Media: Use paper handouts and/or overhead transparencies (slides) and/or PowerPoint presentations. (If you need the projector or the beamer, please mention this the week before.)
  2. Content: Structure your report with lists, tables, graphics, as well as texts, and give plenty of concrete examples from different languages.
  3. Distribution: Paper handouts should be distributed in class before your report. Reduced-size copies of slides can be distributed before or after the report. PowerPoint presentations can be handed in and put on the web.
  4. Style: If you have a slide or PowerPoint presentation, make sure that you do not cram too much information on to one page, and do not use fonts which are too small. The minimum font size should be 18pt to ensure good visibility.
