Exercises:

1. Search the web (and your textbook) for definitions of
   1. intonation
   2. tone
   3. stress
   4. accentuation
   The terms have many meanings in different contexts, of course, so concentrate on their meanings in phonetics.
2. Add these definitions to your glosary.
3. In your group, find a short text for one of you to read aloud. The others should note
   1. which words are accented,
   2. which is the final accented syllable,
   3. what is the melody of this and the following syllables.
4. Look for and the Praat software on your computer and open it. After the previous exercises we will introduce you to the use of Praat.
