Background information

The Colloquium on Documentation of Spoken Language is open primarily to doctoral candidates and advanced students in Linguistics and in English Studies who are interested in improving their knowledge with research methods and results in the field, and in presenting their own ideas, problems and results. Participants from all linguistic sub-disciplines are welcome.

The field `Spoken Language' is understood broadly, and ranges from experimental and fieldwork phonetics through the lexicon, morphology, syntax and semantics of spoken language, to pragmatics, dialogue modelling, discourse description. However, in this term we will be concentrating - in addition to the specific interests of participants - mainly on the status of Language Documentation projects world wide.

For preparation, Check our Language Documentation web site for initial orientation.

In the first meeting, participants will introduce themselves and their topics in five-minute talks, and we will decide on an agenda for the term.
